OUR STORY
The Owners
Owners, Ronnie and Trena Wines have spent their entire lives in the Colbert/Cartwright area. They have raised 2 children and now have 4 beautiful grandchildren. They both have grown up around farms and have had first hand experience at working fields at some point in their lives. Ronnie spent most of his summers in his youth in the fields, and Trena’s grandparents taught her a lot about farming, farmers markets and the hard work that goes along with it. Trena, having had her own small organic garden, understands the pleasure experienced from bringing produce from the garden to the table. They both have an appreciation and respect for farmers and the community. Because of this, they prefer to support local vendors and businesses over large chains. Trena's healthcare background has created a passion and a desire for good food being healthy and fresh as well. Diagnosed with Celiac Disease a few years back strengthened this desire even further. She now knows what it feels like to go to a restaurant and worry about ingesting gluten, and has discovered that most don't know what it is or how it can affect someone that has Celiac Disease or is sensitive to it. With a rise in the diagnosis of this condition, Ronnie and Trena feel it is important to consider this in their menu.
The vision for the restaurant is to offer fresh food with some gluten free and vegetarian options balanced with traditional, homestyle favorites that are fresh, and healthier but aren't lacking in taste. The plan is to work towards a farm to table approach, but they will start out by obtaining what produce they can from local farmers. Seasonal items and daily specials will be offered, and there will also be a small section in the restaurant where local honey, jelly, and other market items from local vendors will be available for purchase.
The Lead Cook/Kitchen Manager
When the owners were presented with the opportunity to open a restaurant, they already had Christy Weathers in mind for this position. Ronnie’s sister, Christy, honestly needs no introduction to this area. Anyone that has had the pleasure to sample one of her pies, casseroles or meals understands this. Christy is a mother of 3 children. She has an absolute passion for cooking and anyone can see this as her calling in life. She has been in restaurant work since her teen years and has had first hand experience with customers as a waitress. Meeting customers and hearing their needs and what is important to them has helped shape her expertise level. She is a homestyle cook and baker, and has been excited to collaborate with Trena on her ideas and vision for the restaurant. Christy understands the health aspects and considerations of preparing items gluten free and allergy concerns. Together they have put together a good menu that is fresh and highlights Christy’s expertise.
